Welcome
We are a group who enjoy the camaraderie of walking and the shared experience of exploring the rich country in and around London. We walk three times a month. The main walk is on the third w/e of the month-saturday Jan to June and sunday July to December. This is a reccied walk usually with a pub lunch. We also walk the first Friday of the month . This is an unreccied walk with access via train. And we just have started « Slow Lane Walks » on the 2 nd Wednesday of the month. A shorter, slower walk based on a place of interest for members who are walking more slowly and cannot manage the distances of the regular walks.
Most of our walks are within an hours traveling distance of Central London but can be further in the summer months and once a year we arrange an away weekend. New comers are always welcome.
Walk Reports
Many thanks for Bill and Vivien for a very well planned walk in the finer parts of Metroland yesterday. We learned some interesting history, had an excellent lunch and walked through some delightful woods with early bluebells. Most enjoyable for all.
Very best
I am claiming “droit de seigneur” and post a thanks to Bronwen for a great slow walk in Syon house. A special treat for me to be able at last to join a LWG walk and meet some old friends. And it was a particularly good walk. And here are some photos
Yesterday, we were 13 in total. The walk from Richmond to Kingston was blessed with brilliant weather.Warm but not too hot . We walked at a brisk pace and reached Mario’s cafe at one . His toasted sandwiches or otherwise went down well, followed by an assortment of ice creams . The chestnut flavour was popular.
