Ashtead to West Humble - Linear walk

Lovely autumnal walk, golden leaves, muddy puddles and amazingly blue skies and sunshine. It’s beyond my comprehension how our wonderful leaders find the way back to a station. If anyone goes back to the First World War Centenary site and did pick up a leaflet yesterday on route, I really do recommend you look at the ‘Interpretation Boards’ just a few minutes walk from Regiment of solders, consists of enlightening photographs taken during the first world war. Fascinating history lesson!

Route - From Ashtead, across Ashtead common and Ashtead Park to Langley woods. This is the site for the development of the Centenary Wood; the memorial started in 2014 to commemorate WW1. We won’t have time to explore the whole site which is well worth visiting on other occasions. From there we walk to Headley and lunch. After lunch we take a route across Headley Common and around the foothills of Box Hill. There are a couple of short steep ups and downs at this stage but these will be nothing to the intrepid walkers of Presteigne.
