Chorleywood to Chalfont & Latimer Inbox
A large group of 20 pius people including 2 new young men met at Chorleywood station on a cold but bright morning, chattering excitedly about the upcoming walk. Their enthusiasm was well rewarded for it was a great day out. The Chess valley and surrounding countryside looked glorious with a timeless beauty. We passed watercress farms, ancients churches ,fields of horses well blanketed against the cold and a small boy in shorts on his bicycle witha true 'just William' demeanour. The pub was excellent with a very interesting menu- i feel that chef will do very well and would recommend a return visit.

This walk in the Chess Valley is in the area about which John Betjeman waxed lyrical inventing the name Metroland. Taking the Metropolitan Line from Baker Street provides the full flavour. Some hills and some water lying across full width of paths. Waterproof boots essential.
