Experience the City
It was on a cold but otherwise perfect winter morning that 21 members of the group met at Aldgate station for the start of this very enjoyable walk
Fortified by coffee from the cafe opposite the station we set off to admire the wonderful modern buildings of the city such as the Gherkin, the Lloyds building and the cheese grater looking resplendent in the sunshine But nestling in their shadows were evidence of the history on which the city is built Unnaamed Roman girls churches stilL active with young families meeting for prayer and carol singing, citizens thronging to enjoy the festive season etc
Our walk continued through the city and out into Holborn, up Leather Lane with members adding personal anecdotes from their own youth-invitations to Christine Keeler parties for example -to Kings Cross
This area is truly remarkable for its regeneration and felt vibrant and buzzy It made me feel proud to be a part of such a wonderful city that stops evolving
