Harlington, Bunyan’s Oak and Trail

After the slight hassle of re arranged transport, ten members of the walking group set out on Sunday’s walk; 21st June, Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice.

We followed in John Bunyan’s footsteps passing the oak (now dead but still impressive) from where he ‘field preached’. Views to Sharpenhoe Clappers from various parts of the route and views down to our walk from the escarpment once reached via 132/3/4 steps; beech wood and meadow along the top of Sharpenhoe Clappers.

The weather was good; the sky impressive especially against the fields of wheat and barley. There were wild flowers in abundance including orchids and of fields of poppies which kept coming into view; yellowhammer and lark sang.
