Birdsong Walk

The day had started unseasonably cold which may have explained a low turn out of seven people at Broom hill car park but I am happy to report that despite this we had a wonderful evening
Our first impression approaching the Isabella Plantation was that the birds had also given up and gone to bed early because of the chill, leaving only the robins to serenade us. But the affect of clear blue skies, bright evening spring sunshine and a spectacular blooming of the camelliasand rhododendrons cheered ALL including the birds so that by the time we left the park the evening chorus was loud and clear. 17 different bird songs were identified (by our expert) and a great evening's entertainment was experienced
The Isabella Plantation is in the middle of Richmond Park – If you are coming on public transport please use the directory or Yahoo group page for a lift from a tube station or bus to the Isabella plantation if necessary.
We will walk through the Isabella Plantation (as quietly as possible!) while Angus helps to identify the birdsong.
DINNER
The Lass of Richmond Hill , 8 Queen's Road Richmond. Come out of Richmond Gate, turn right and right again at mini roundabout onto Queen's Road, pub is on right hand side about 50 metres from the mini roundabout. Simple pub food.
Although we will mostly be listening to the bird song and trying to identify the various calls, it would be a good idea to bring binoculars if you have them. It's probably best not to bring dogs as they have to be on the lead in the Isabella Plantation
