The Abingers and Wotton
Best walk of the year, both in quantity and quality. 15 people, and not such bad weather, we even saw the sun. Lovely walk through surprisingly peaceful Surrey hills, no noisy roads accompanying us. Snowdrops, I heard a skylark. Excellent pub, friendly and very quick service. Shorter afternoon so home before dark.
Gomshall is on the A25 between Dorking and Guildford I think the best route is via the A3 A24 to Dorking but remember to take the right turn to Guildford just before Dorking Station to avoid a long drive around Dorking
Gomshall, Sutton Abinger, Abinger Bottom ,Friday street, Wotton, Abinger Rough and back to Gomshall
The Wotton Hatch table booked no sandwiches but excellent starters Menus will be circulated at the beginning of the walk for pre ordering
This is a lovely walk through the Surrey Hills Some stiles and moderate ups and downs but all in the best possible ‘Surrey taste’!
Wotton is the estate of the great diarist John Evelyn
It is possible to leave the walk at lunch time and take a bus to Dorking for a train home
