South Kenton/East Finchley

Capital Ring 1 S Kenton to E Finchley
10 brave souls met at South Kenton Station and tackled the first section of the Capital Ring, despite very mixed weather forecasts. The morning was a mix of NW uninspiring suburbia with some surprisingly pleasant open green spaces, including the Welsh Harp. Our hearts failed us when we arrived at West Hendon Broadway to find the pub shut and only some rather dodgy looking eateries. So we marched on and had a good lunch in Brent Cross shopping centre!
The weather forecast for the afternoon was even worse, and the map showed the path going through 3-4 miles of suburbia beside the N. Circular. So we were very surprised to find that the path really ran through the narrow, delightful, green park, beside the River Brent and Mutton Brook, Brent Park, which none of us knew even existed. We emerged to walk a few streets of Hampstead Garden suburb before crossing a park and finishing at East Finchley Station. And although mostly grey it did not rain all day!
